U.S. Marine Corps and Air Force units from Oahu are scheduled to conduct exercises at Pohakuloa Training Area starting Monday.
The training, which is slated through the month of February, involves helicopter gunnery, mortar and artillery qualification and close air support by A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft, the Army said in a statement. The training might be heard or seen from surrounding communities.
“We will continue to provide this advisory to inform our Hawaii Island neighbors of upcoming training activities that are louder in nature and may be heard or noticed outside the military installation,” said Lt. Col. JR Borce, Pohakuloa’s commanding officer. “We truly appreciate the understanding and continued support of local communities.”
